Music

GuitaristThis is another area in which the school prides itself on its excellence. Children are exposed to a wide range of music and composers from the Beatles to Bach.

The generosity of the PTA allows all children in Year 3 to learn the recorder. In addition children are offered the opportunity to learn how to play the violin as well as woodwind and brass instruments. We have also recently started a guitar club.

The school has a junior choir, open to children from Year 3 to 6. There are usually two public performances each year, a concert at Christmas and a recital in the summer.

MusiciansThe more musically able children are encouraged to join the school orchestra. It accompanies the choir performances as well as the pantomime and class assemblies. It also goes out into the community to perform, particularly to the elderly folk of Wotton.

We regularly invite local musicians into the school for workshops with the children. The most recent visit involved African-style music.

Every child is encouraged to enjoy music, whether listening, composing or performing.
