PSHE and REPSHE
PSHE becomes a more formal part of the curriculum in KS2. In year 5 we have peer mediation where children are encouraged to help themselves and each other to resolve any difficulties. In year 6 in the summer term we usually introduce the children to the Connexions “Make it Real” game. For instance the class has an opportunity to create a whole new town, looking at the facilities needed, with a multi-cultural focus. We also invite a range of health professionals into the school to talk to children about healthy eating and fitness. REAgain this forms part of the ethos of the school, in terms of moral and spiritual development. We follow the Gloucestershire agreed syllabus, which covers all the main world faiths including Christianity, Judaism and Islam. We look at leaders, prophets and holy writings and festivals. We feel it is particularly important to raise awareness here because of the nature of the community. |
