Science

Plants Display The British School has won the UK National Science on two occasions, in 1999 and 2003. In 2003 the work produced by Year 6 pupils, on the subject of microbes, was deemed of such a high standard by the judges, that it was sent to the Education Minister, as an example of what can be achieved in terms of practical science at primary school level.

Science ChallengeClassroom work is backed up by trips that are both educational and fun, and have included the Hayden Water Treatment Works, Slimbridge Wildlife and Wetlands Trust and Oldbury Power Station.

The after-school Science Club for Year 5 pupils is always popular. Children have the opportunity to make objects, which they can use at home, such as picture lanterns and Cartesian divers.

The main aim of the school is to enable children to learn about the practical as well as the theoretical aspects of science in an enjoyable way.
